Checkpoint passes and offline mode

brevets.ru lets you record checkpoint (CP) passes even without mobile coverage. Learn how to prepare for the ride and mark yourself along the route.

1. Preparing for offline mode (before the start)

For the tracker to work in areas with poor network coverage, pre-download at home, with stable internet:

  1. 1

    Open the event page

Open the brevet page in the app (a link like https://brevets.ru/events/[id]).

  2. 2

    Tap the download button

Next to the "You are participating" block, tap the blue "Download for offline" button (down-arrow icon). .

*Available only to registered brevet participants.

  3. 3

Wait for the download to finish

The progress bar must reach 100%. The app will show a success message.

Saving data for offline use

After this, the app always opens on the tracker page of the saved event.

What is saved on your phone: GPX track, the region map file in offline format, and the needed pages.

2. Passing a CP (creating a mark)

On the route, CP marks are made using the camera and GPS coordinates.

  1. 1

    Start broadcasting

On the tracker page, tap the "Mark" button. The app will start requesting GPS coordinates periodically.

  2. 2

Wait until you approach a CP

If you are within 500 meters of a CP, a large green "Checkpoint nearby!" button appears. You can also tap the needed CP manually from the list.

  3. 3

    Take a selfie

Take a photo of yourself and/or your bike with the bib number against the CP backdrop. The shot is saved locally and sent when a connection appears.

3. Synchronization and sending

Depending on internet availability, marks are saved differently. You can always monitor their status:

Green check (Online)

The mark is sent and stored on the server. Your CP status is updated in the shared protocol in real time.

Grey check (Offline)

The mark is written to the phone's local storage. The app sends marks automatically in the background when a connection appears.

How to force a sync when a connection appears:

  • Tap the "Send data (X)" button under the CP list (appears only when there are unsent marks).
  • Open "Archive" (button at the bottom of the panel) to review photos, time and coordinates for each passed CP and tap "Send" for a specific entry.

Tips for the route

If you use a browser instead of the PWA app, do not close the tracker tab while riding the brevet.
Keep the GPS module enabled.
Do not clear the cache before the brevet is finished and all marks are sent.
